Introduction

I am excited and scared to death at the same time. I want so much to begin working as a librarian, but at the same time I feel so overwhelmed by all I have to learn. The best thing so far has been the willingness of everyone in my class to help me by stopping to explain the 'teacher' things/language that I don't understand.

I am very curious to see how this blog is going to help us with our careers.

I understand about the lack of "teacher" knowledge. I am with you on that! Hopefully what we don't know as well there we will make up in other areas!!:)

The more that you hear the teacher "lingo" the better it will be. I was in your shoes once and after a few weeks it will be as if you have been hearing these things forever. I still have to be reminded about some things.

I have graduated with a degree but sometimes I still have to think and remember what is being said. I have so much useless information floating in my head that sometimes it gets a little overcrowded. Another thing, anytime you need any information or help just give me a yell.

Well, it's (teaching) is a learn as you go process, somewhat. As long as you have enthusiasm and perseverence, you will wbe fine! I am 58 years old and still traumatized by this technology!

Being a librarian is really a unique experience, one where you have the ability to touch hundreds of lives. And there is so much involved - from technology to budgeting to legal issues. You are well on your way to developing the skills you need to work in one of the best professions in the state!
