Library Visit

Well, I decided to check out a public library for our library visits. Part of me thinks it would be interesting to work in a public library instead of a school library. The director was very nice and gave me an hour of her time. She also said she is willing to talk to me any time and answer questions either in person or on the phone. Have ya'll noticed how NICE librarians are? I have yet to meet one that wasn't willing to take time and really answer my questions. She was very forthcoming about what she considered to be the downside of the librarian lifestyle and had lots of suggestions for what she considered to be good libraries around to visit.

I really think that using the public library as a resource would be a good idea for a school library. What do ya'll think?

I was going to use the public library also. I use the public library to make book sets for guided reading and sometimes video but their selection can be dated and static. I would love a BIG city library. ha
I have also found librarians to be very approachable. I am one of those people who never ran into a librarian I didn't like.

I am also going to a public library for one of my visit next week. Well, I go every week, but next week it will be ALONE to actually interview the librarian instead of trying desperately to keep my son still and quiet for at least one book before he bolts for the play area and blues clues on the computer in the back. It will be nice to see the rest of the library - the part that becons me as I rush out with a loud toddler apologizing profusing while shoving raisins, etc into his mouth.:) All that to say I am looking forward to my public library visit!:) I, too, have thought about working in a public library one day, so I think this will be very interesting.
